Recipe: Rum Punch

I was throwing a birthday party for a friend of mine a few years ago and put the word out that I was looking for a killer rum punch recipe. I received the following email:

Here's the winner:

Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum (1.75 liter bottle)
Light Rum (Bacardi would do nicely - 1 liter bottle)
Hawaiian Punch (4 cans or 6 frozen cans, with water)
Fruit cocktail and crushed pineapple (3 cans each - pour syrup in too)

Pour over punch bowl filled 3/4 with ice.

Happy landings was right. It proved to be a party I'll certainly never forget. There was a line at the punch bowl the entire night. People would fill their glass and then immediately go to the back of the line for a refill, raising their glass in the air and shouting out, "Gotta have that recipe! Gotta have that recipe!"
