Sh*t Happens

It certainly does and it certainly will when you attempt to start a restaurant. Especially if you're not there to make sure that it doesn't happen before it has a chance to.

In any case, opening up this restaurant continues to be exciting and challenging.

Bogota Latin Bistro

Bogota Latin Bistro: Tentative Opening: June, 2005

5 Signs You're Ready For Your Own Business

Starting a company requires a lot of thought and preparation. So how do you know when you're ready to launch your business? There identified several signs that can help you know you're ready to launch.

  1. When real customers are willing to pay real money for your product or service, you have a real business.
  2. If you've already built a fan base for your new business, you're one step closer to your grand opening. This set of people who support your idea will help you find your early customers.
  3. If the days (and nights) fly by and you have more ideas than time to address them all, you're moving in the right direction
  4. When you believe in your core that a bad day on your own is better than a good day at your desk job, you've got nothing to lose. (This one I personally LOVE!)
  5. If you've made it this far, you owe it to yourself to start that business.
Remember that your enthusiasm and curiosity will inspire others. Never give up on what you believe in: An entrepreneur is one who doesn't give up on a dream. As Thomas Edison once said, "I have not failed. I have eliminated ways that will not work so I can find the way that will work." Seek and you shall find your path to success.

141 5th Avenue

A while back, before we found our current home, we had contemplated the notion that we might not find such a great space to call Bogota. Sooner or later, because of loan payments that were upcoming, we were going to have to just grab something in the interest of getting up and running.

"Imagine that we end up in some little hole in the wall after all thus buzz and the momentum we were riding on?"

"Yeah, imagine. Imagine we end up in some tiny space somewhere that's hard to get to and when it comes to our grand opening, people will ask, 'This is it?'"

Last night George pointed out to me that we landed a space we can be proud to show off to all our friends and supporters. "You're right!" I agreed. This is 'the space' we'd been wanting and hoping all the time we were searching. It's a space that has 'wow" built into it.

It really is a great space, in a great location, on a great block in a great neighborhood. It's a space we can proudly show to our friends and family.
