Through Snow, Sleet, Rain & Hail

Picking Paola up for work for the Blizzard of 2006 New York CityNew York was visited 2 Sundays ago by what I hope will be its only blizzard of 2006. It covered the city with a record 28" of snow that Sunday which certainly didn't help our brunch business.

We woke up that Sunday wondering what to do. The city was completely covered and I knew that it would be difficult for our employees to get to work. Should we call them all up and tell them to not come in? Should we open with a skeleton crew? Why hadn't we made a contingency plan the night before?

We decided we would open and began calling all the employees scheduled to work that day. Some were already on their way in and others we gave the day off. Then we began making the rounds to pick up the employees that hadn't left their homes yet including Jesus, our cook and Paola, whom you see here climbing over a mountain of snow to get to the car.
