Citysearch Review: Great Food, Great Service!

Review of Bogota Latin BistroHere's a review in response to the one posted by Patricia the other day. We get way more comments such as this one vs. negative comments:

Gorgeous food, great service!

I live a few blocks from this place and can't stay away. The veggie dishes are wonderful and the owners are some of the nicest guys I've ever met. Every time I've gone they've been warm and helpful. Every single one of the many friends I've taken here has loved this place too. Last year I threw a surprise birthday party for my girlfriend at Bogota--they had just opened up--and the owners and staff were beyond cheerful and accommodating to our large group of people. Okay, so being from NJ myself, I have no idea if the dishes are completely authentic Latin food or what (to address the review below mine) but I don't really care because every meal and experience I've had at this restaurant has been awesome.

Pros: Excellent food, service, and atmosphere
Cons: Haven't found any yet
Overall user rating: Highly Recommended

What a trip it is owning a restaurant.

Owning a restaurant is such a trip regardless of how well or badly it is doing. Regardless of where it's located, what food it sells, or what it's theme is (if it even has one), owning a restaurant is a real trip on so many different levels, that unless you're a restaurant owner, you could never imagine.

One day I'll write more at length on this. I promise.

From the Bogota Mailbag: A Love Letter

And...the love letters keep coming in:

Hey guys, It's Jim from Jim and Carlos who were in there on Saturday night. I can't tell you how much we enjoyed the restaurant and bar and, more importantly, getting to meet you guys. It's clear you have a success on your hands. I've told several of my friends about the fun time and great food and we're trying to schedule a night to come back.

Carlos says hi as well and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best, Jim O'Connor

Take "that!" Patricia!!

Lovers & Haters Part 2

I HATE BOGOTA!So, this individual who came in here Thursday night with a group of friends, drank up a storm and left only a $1 tip not only submits an email to the restaurant, she now goes on to post the following on the internet. I do find it funny that she would go so far as to call us the Worst Restaurant In New York. Come on now.

Worst restaurant in New York ever, Is not Colombian at all!!!!

It is really unbelievable how the owners can put that name to this restaurant. I am Colombian, from Bogota and trust me people this is not even close to a bad restaurant in my city. The service was so poor I couldn't believe it; anyway that wasn’t the word part, we have to wait almost an hour to get insipid, small and really expensive plates, that weren’t even entrees. However, what it really made me feel very upset was the arepa I can’t believe they don’t even make it from scratch or at least buy a bigger ones. They were exactly the same as the ones I buy for me at the supermarket, which 1 pack of 5 arepas costs you $2.50 and here they charge you $5 dollars and they don’t even put butter, incredible!!!! I really don’t recommend this place as a Latin one, please don’t believe all the Latin places are like this one.

Pros: Aguila Beer!!!Cons: food, service, prices!!!!!!!!!!Overall user rating: Not Recommended

My Colombian cook, Sonia, who come from Colombia also finds it funny.
