I once needed to speak to a server about a serious issue that occurred that evening to one of her tables as a result of her actions. The customer has left angry and filled out a scathing comment card referring to the food and the service she rendered.
The server was ready to leave when I informed her that it was important to speak. Since her next scheduled shift wouldn't be for another few days, it was important that I bring this to her attention.
The employee vented frustration by sighing and rolling her eyes at me. "It's late and I'm tired. I've never had a boss need to speak to me on my time before. Can this wait until next time?"
My response to her, "Would you like there to be a next time?"
She no longer works for us.
